Only minor injuries were reported
A Hercules aircraft was sent to rescue eight passengers and two crew members after a Twin Otter went down about 300 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife Dec. 27.
Only minor injuries were reported, according to Air Tindi based in N.W.T., which specializes in flying to remote areas of the North.
According to its website, Air Tindi operates daily schedules for Air Ambulance services, chartered flights for people working in the mining industry and government, as well as for tourists.
The Canadian military were expected to parachute two rescue members to the area Wednesday night.
The Hercules was dispatched from Winnipeg, Manitoba. It had trained paramedics on board, supplies and warm clothing.
The nearby Diavik mine has trained rescue personnel available.
The rescue of the 10 people is expected to occur Thursday morning.
Snow and wind have hampered efforts.
