GOD’S LAKE NARROWS, Man., — Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the stabbing death of a 38-year-old male in the remote northern Manitoba community of God’s Lake Narrows.
On July 23, 2026, Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services located and arrested Alvin Spence, 19, in the city of Winnipeg without incident. He has been charged with manslaughter and remanded into custody.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 18, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., when God’s Lake Narrows RCMP were notified of a possible stabbing in the community. Officers responded to a residence where the incident was reported to have occurred and were advised that the male victim had already been taken to the local nursing station.
At the nursing station, officers learned that a 38-year-old male who had suffered significant wounds due to a stabbing was being prepared for transport to hospital in Thompson for treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
God’s Lake Narrows detachment continues to investigate with the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Services and the Forensic Identification Section.
Police have confirmed there is no ongoing risk to the community.
