DUNCAN, B.C., —North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are investigating two suspicious fires in two days.
On July 22, 2026, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP and the City of Duncan Fire Department attended a structure fire on Festubert Street in Duncan. Evacuation of nearby residences was required. Damage was sustained to several vehicles and two residential buildings. Emergency Social Services was activated to assist with displacement of residents.
In the early morning hours of July 23, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP members were notified by North Cowichan Fire Department of a vehicle fire located on Dingwall Street in North Cowichan. Fire was quickly contained however damage was also sustained to a secondary vehicle located nearby.
The RCMP Island District Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Fire Commissioner attended both scenes for examination.
No injuries were sustained as a result of the fires, however, both fires are considered suspicious and being investigated by the detachment Investigation Support Team.
