ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Police are searching for a suspect after two girls under the age of 10 were approached by an unknown man who attempted to lure them into his vehicle on Wednesday evening.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, the incident occurred on July 22, at approximately 5:30 p.m. outside the victims’ apartment complex located at 33538 Marshall Road.
During the encounter, one of the girls called out for her parents, who were nearby. The suspect subsequently left the area. Police confirmed that the girls weren’t physically harmed.
The suspect is described as a South Asian male in his 50s, standing between 5’5″ and 5’9″ tall, with a heavy build and a noticeable belly. Investigators believe he may be associated with a light-coloured sedan.
The AbbyPD Major Crime Unit is actively investigating the case. Detectives have released a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes of identifying him.
Police are urging anyone who recognizes the man, or who has information that may assist in the investigation, to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
Investigators are also asking for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who may have dash-cam or surveillance footage from the vicinity around the time of the incident to come forward.
