A Vancouver man who built an online following as a social media influencer has been charged with six offences after a cross‑provincial human trafficking investigation, according to the BC Counter Human Trafficking Unit.
Investigation spanned B.C. and Ontario
Police say the investigation began in May 2025, focusing on a man suspected of trafficking a victim throughout the Lower Mainland and the Greater Toronto Area. The alleged offences occurred between July 1 and Dec. 1, 2023.
Six charges approved
On Feb. 20, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service approved six charges against 31‑year‑old Tevin Douglas:
- Trafficking in persons
- Procuring a person to provide sexual services
- Material benefit from trafficking
- Material benefit from sexual services
- Advertising sexual services
- Sexual assault
Arrest and search warrant
With assistance from the Vancouver Police Department, CFSEU‑UGET, and Burnaby RCMP, investigators arrested Douglas at his Vancouver residence. Officers executed a search warrant at the home the same day.
Douglas was released by the courts on Feb. 24 on multiple conditions.
Police believe others may have information
Inspector Lyndsay O’Ruairc of the BC Counter Human Trafficking Unit said investigators believe additional individuals may have information relevant to the case and encouraged them to contact police in their home jurisdiction.
“Human trafficking is rarely confined to a single victim or even a single province,” O’Ruairc said in the release. “Each province has dedicated human trafficking investigators who understand the experiences of victims and can provide support regardless of whether someone is ready to pursue a criminal investigation. Safety is always the priority.”
Support and resources
Police directed the public to federal resources outlining signs of human trafficking, and noted that community‑based supports are available through the Centre to End Human Trafficking’s 24/7 hotline.
