PITT MEADOWS, B.C. — A 45-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice more than eight years after a body was found in a rural area of Pitt Meadows, B.C. in 2018.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said on June 16 that charges have been laid in the killing of 43-year-old Ian Roberts of Delta, B.C., who was found dead in Pitt Meadows on April 30, 2018.
“This was a lengthy and highly complex investigation that demanded years of dedicated work by investigators who were committed to finding the answers,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.
“Through meticulous examination of evidence and persistent pursuit of all available leads, the investigation has now reached a significant milestone with the laying of a first-degree murder charge. We hope this development provides some measure of comfort to the victim’s loved ones as the judicial process moves forward.”
On April 30, 2018, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a found body located in Pitt Meadows. Upon attendance, police located a deceased man who was later identified as 43-year-old Ian Roberts of Delta.
Earlier that day, at approximately 6 a.m., Langley RCMP recovered a red 1996 GMC Jimmy associated to Roberts.
IHIT took over the investigation and continued to work in collaboration with policing partners in Ridge Meadows, Langley, Surrey, and Delta.
Miikael Tattoo King, formerly known as Michael Branden Anderson, has been arrested.
IHIT said it believes the two men knew each other and the killing was targeted.
