Wanted man 32-year-old Steven Wiebe rammed a police vehicle when Steinbach RCMP tried arresting him. He was wanted on 26 outstanding charges at the time.
On Dec. 19, as part of an ongoing investigation, Steinbach RCMP along with the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, were at a home in Mitchell. They were in the process of executing a warrant to enter the home to arrest Wiebe when he fled from the home, got into a vehicle and attempted to drive way.
Officers blocked the vehicle but Wiebe refused to stop and rammed a police vehicle. His vehicle became inoperable and he was arrested. No one was injured during the incident.
The vehicle used by Wiebe was confirmed to be stolen.
He was additionally charged with assault on peace Officer, assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, flight from police, resisting arrest, driving while prohibited, and failing to comply with conditions.
He was remanded into custody.
