After a massive search for 17-year-old Tyson Blair MacDonald for about a week, two youth were arrested Dec. 19 in his disappearance.
PEI RCMP say they discovered human remains on Sorrie Road in Milltown Cross Dec. 20. Police believe they are that of MacDonald but say they are waiting for a positive identification.
“As a result of those arrests, human remains were located in the area of Milltown Cross in Kings County, by our major crime unit and general investigative section members,” said Superintendent Kevin Lewis, acting commanding officer for the PEI RCMP.
On Dec. 18, RCMP had said they were treating MacDonald’s disappearance as criminal in nature and believed MacDonald was a victim of a crime.
More than 60 P. E. I. police officers searched for him, including ground crews and helicopter support.
A tremendous effort has been put into this investigation,” said Lewis. “We hope that with these developments we can bring some closure to the loved ones of the deceased.”
RCMP continue to collect evidence in this case and ask anyone with information to contact the RCMP at 902-566-7112 or anonymously through PEI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
