Rohan Singh, a 27-year-old cab driver from India, was sentenced on Dec. 15 to three years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman he had picked up downtown Moncton.
Singh was found guilty in Moncton Provincial Court on Oct. 12 on a charge of sexual assault that occurred on May 27, 2021. Codiac Regional RCMP had received a report that a woman had been sexually assaulted by a cab driver while she was on her way home from downtown.
The RCMP say they take all reports of sexual assault seriously, and investigates each report thoroughly.
“We want people to know that a sexual assault complaint can be made at any time, and there is no statute of limitations as to how far back the assault happened,” said Sgt. Sylvette Hebert of the Codiac Regional RCMP.
“If you are a victim of sexual assault, please contact us. You will be listened to, and you will be believed.”
