NANAIMO, B.C., — Nanaimo RCMP officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had driven into the store front of a local pet supply store. The incident was reported just after 10:30 AM on July 16, at Brooks Landing Mall.
Police, Fire and BCEHS responded. The mature female driver of the older model Mazda was treated at scene then transported for medical treatment for her non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators were able to determine that the driver had continued through a parking stall, drove over the sidewalk then came to a stop after striking the front of the business. The collision caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle and to the front window of the business to shatter. The vehicle was later towed from the scene.
No pedestrians were injured and there no indication of impairment on part of the driver. No charges are pending against the driver.
