WHISTLER, B.C., — Police in Whistler are asking for the public’s help identifying a man they believe is behind numerous jacket thefts at retail stores across British Columbia and Alberta, releasing photos of the suspect in hopes someone will recognize him.
The investigation began May 15 when the Sea to Sky RCMP detachment received a report of a theft from a store in the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Officers obtained images of the male, and they’re now making those photos public to try and track him down.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, about six feet tall and 220 pounds, with light brown facial hair. He was last seen wearing dark-rimmed glasses, a white shirt, a tan-coloured jacket, light blue jeans, black-and-white running shoes, and a mustard-yellow fedora-style hat.
Investigators believe the same individual is tied to a string of similar thefts in multiple locations, though they didn’t specify exactly how many stores or communities are involved.

Cpl. Katrina Boehmer, media relations officer for the Sea to Sky RCMP, said the photos are being released to move the case forward.
“We are releasing photos of this individual with the hope that somebody will be able to provide Police with his identity,” said Boehmer.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the thefts is asked to call the Sea to Sky RCMP detachment at (604) 932-3044. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.solvecrime.ca.
