A week‑long property‑crime spree across Parkland County and Lac Ste. Anne ended March 11 when RCMP officers disabled a stolen Cadillac ATS and arrested the two suspects believed to be behind a string of vehicle thefts, break‑ins, and frauds.
Police say the Cadillac was spotted that morning in the Onoway area, occupied by a 28‑year‑old man from Onoway and a 19‑year‑old woman from Stony Plain. When officers moved in, the vehicle fled, weaving through rural roads in both counties and, according to RCMP, being driven in a dangerous manner. A coordinated response involving the Community Response Team, Parkland plainclothes investigators, an RCMP helicopter, Police Dog Services, and uniformed members from Parkland and Evansburg tracked the vehicle until officers were able to deploy a tire‑deflation device. The Cadillac was disabled and both suspects were arrested without injury.
The arrests closed out a rapid series of offences that began March 6. That morning, a 2007 Kia Sportage was stolen from a Stony Plain residence; security footage showed a woman taking the vehicle. Hours later in Spruce Grove, the same Kia arrived in a parking lot, where a male passenger got out and stole a 2004 Ford F‑350.
The next day, a commercial break‑and‑enter in Spruce Grove resulted in the theft of a Cadillac ATS and keys to several other vehicles. Surveillance video again captured the stolen Kia and the same suspects at the scene.
On March 8, a Toyota Prius was stolen from a church parking lot in Parkland County. The stolen Cadillac was seen nearby. Shortly afterward, both stolen vehicles pulled into convenience stores in Stony Plain, where a woman used credit cards taken from the Prius. RCMP say the same pattern occurred at a second store minutes later.
Investigators recovered the stolen Ford F‑350 and a stolen 2024 Precision flat‑deck trailer on March 10 from a rural property linked to one of the suspects. The Parkland Crime Reduction Unit then took over the file, coordinating with partner units ahead of the March 11 arrests.
“Targeting repeat property crime offenders is a priority of ours,” says RCMP Sergeant Collin Kuca. “The Parkland Crime Reduction Unit will relentlessly pursue the individuals responsible for these activities and partner with other units to share resources and intelligence, which furthers this goal.”
Colten Battaglini, 28, of Onoway, is charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous driving, flight from police, theft from a motor vehicle, and six counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Jayden Stebbings, 19, of Stony Plain, faces charges including theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation, flight from police, fraudulent use of credit cards, and eight counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Both remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in St. Albert provincial court on March 30, 2026.
