A second man has been arrested in the killing of 39‑year‑old Kirk Grey, whose body was found near Highway 2 east of Slave Lake in January. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes arrested 40‑year‑old Jordan Laboucan on March 12 in Peace River with assistance from local detachments and specialized RCMP units. He is charged with second‑degree murder and remains in custody.
The arrest marks a new development in the investigation that began on Jan. 23, when Slave Lake RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person near the highway. The victim was identified as Grey, and Major Crimes took over the file.
Police quickly identified a suspect in the days that followed. On Jan. 26, officers located and arrested 27‑year‑old John Ricky Wade Laboucan in Edmonton with support from the Alberta Sheriffs and the Edmonton Police Service’s tactical team. He was also charged with second‑degree murder.
RCMP say the investigation remains active as officers continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Grey’s death.
