Officers found a 30-year-old deceased in a business parking lot; a second victim later treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A 30‑year‑old North Battleford man is dead and two 19‑year‑old men are facing homicide‑related charges after RCMP were called to a business parking lot along the Highway 16 Bypass early Thursday morning.
Battlefords RCMP received a report of an injured man around 7:45 a.m. on March 13. Officers arrived and found the man unresponsive. He was declared dead at the scene by EMS. His family has been notified.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit took over the case. Police say two adult males were arrested at the business shortly after officers arrived and have now been charged in connection with the death.
Investigators say one of the accused assaulted another person inside the business and pointed a firearm at them. That individual was then confined to a room by both accused. The victim of that incident was later taken to hospital with injuries described as non‑life‑threatening.
The two men charged are Kojac Adams, 19, of North Battleford, and Garren Baptiste, 19, also of North Battleford. Adams is charged with first‑degree murder, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm. Baptiste is charged with manslaughter and forcible confinement.
Both are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on March 16.
RCMP say no further information is being released at this stage. The investigation remains active with assistance from Battlefords RCMP, the Municipal General Investigation Section, the North Battleford Serious Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Section.
