A 25-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario, is facing a slew of criminal charges after a dramatic two-day crime spree across Saskatchewan, culminating in a violent confrontation with police and multiple vehicle thefts. Manjinder Singh was arrested on August 27, 2025, following a series of incidents that began with an erratic driving report and escalated into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with law enforcement.
Initial incident: Erratic driving and arrest
On August 26, 2025, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Maidstone RCMP responded to reports of a car driving erratically on Highway #16, west of Maidstone. Saskatchewan RCMP traffic officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over. Instead, the suspect accelerated, fleeing at high speeds while swerving into ditches and back onto the highway. The vehicle was later found disabled on a grid road, and the driver—identified as Manjinder Singh—fled on foot into a wooded area. After a brief search, officers located and arrested him, though he resisted during the apprehension. Investigation revealed the car had been reported stolen in Ontario. Singh was charged and released pending a court appearance.
Second day: Escalation to break-in and vehicle theft
Just hours after his release on August 27, Singh was spotted at approximately 11:30 a.m. breaking into a vehicle on 4th Avenue E in Maidstone. When officers approached, he fled on foot but was soon seen driving an SUV. Police determined he had broken into a nearby residence, stolen the keys to the SUV, and taken the vehicle without consent. Officers initiated another traffic stop, but Singh refused to yield, leading police on a high-speed chase west on Highway #16. A tire deflation device was deployed, partially disabling the SUV, but Singh continued driving into the Town of Marshall. As the vehicle slowed, he jumped out while it was still in motion and fled on foot. The unmanned SUV struck a parked car, though no occupants were injured.
Final confrontation and arrest
Later that day, officers located Singh in a parking lot in Marshall, where he was now driving a stolen truck. Police blocked the exit with a patrol vehicle and approached on foot, but Singh reversed the truck repeatedly into the police cruiser, disabling it. He then struck a second police vehicle before fleeing the town. The truck eventually became stuck in a field after turning down a dead-end road. Singh again fled on foot but was pursued into a treed area by officers. After resisting arrest, police deployed a conducted energy weapon (Taser) to subdue him. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges and court appearance
Manjinder Singh faces 15 criminal charges related to the two-day spree, including three counts of resisting/obstructing a peace officer two counts of flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of vehicle theft, break and entering a residence, multiple counts of mischief and damage to property, and failing to comply with a release order.
Singh is currently remanded and scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Sept. 4.
