A man, Paulos Behre, 29, has been charged in relation to a targeted homicide that occurred on Dec. 18, 2023.
On Feb. 26, 2025, with the assistance of the CPS Tactical Unit, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 0 to 100 block of Erin Ridge Road S.E. One man was taken into custody without incident.
Just before 10 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, police were called to the 1800 block of 35 Street S.E., for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man, later identified as 43-year-old Donald LYONS, deceased on scene. A woman in her 30s was also injured during the shooting.
After an extensive investigation, including the review of evidence from the scene and witness information, detectives were able to identify one suspect. This shooting is believed to have been targeted and pre-planned.
BEHRE of Calgary, has been charged with one count each of first-degree murder and attempted murder. BERHE will next appear in court Feb. 28, 2025.
“Due to the level of pre-planning and criminality involved, investigations such as this one are historically difficult to solve,” says Staff Sergeant Mark Rahn of the CPS Homicide Unit. “Our investigators spent countless hours pouring over the evidence in this case in the pursuit of justice for Donald’s family.”
