A 16-year-old male was attacked with a machete, assaulted, and robbed on Dec. 16 in Flin Flon, Man. He was able to escape and run to the hospital.
At 7:55 pm, Flin Flon RCMP received a report of an assault that had occurred at a home on Main Street in Flin Flon, at approximately 6 p.m. earlier that evening.
The teen told police that he was in the home with several other people when he was suddenly attacked by two males, one adult and one youth. He was repeatedly punched, kicked and had a knife pulled on him as the suspects demanded his cell phone.
The victim turned over his cell phone and was then pushed outside and further assaulted. One of the suspects pulled out a machete and struck the victim.
Officers from Flin Flon and Creighton responded. They found one of the suspects, Ethan Merasty, 23, from Stanley Mission, Sask., who was arrested without incident.
Merasty was remanded into custody and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, robbery, rorcible confinement, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He remains in custody.
The second suspect involved in the assault, a 15-year-old male from Denare Beach, fled the scene and wasn’t located.
A 21-year-old man, from Denare Beach, was also located in the residence and was arrested as a result of him having an outstanding Warrant of Arrest.
Flin Flon RCMP say they continue to investigate.
