A targeted enforcement operation by the Kelowna RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) has led to multiple arrests, drug seizures, and the disruption of criminal activity in the Rutland neighbourhood.
On Monday, April 21, officers executed a one-day project focused on Dougall Road and Highway 33, areas identified as hotspots for criminal behaviour. The operation resulted in seven individuals being arrested for drug-related offences and the seizure of a significant quantity of illegal substances and weapons.
Among the items seized:
- Over 100 grams of drugs, including fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine, and psilocybin
- Numerous weapons, including two pairs of brass knuckles and a taser
- 19 cartons of illicit tobacco
- More than $1,000 in cash
“This project was a significant success, reflecting the dedication and coordination of the Crime Reduction Unit,
” said Sgt. Scott Powrie of the CRU. “We will continue to relentlessly target individuals involved in the drug trade, disrupting their operations and removing dangerous substances from our streets. The success of this initiative lays a strong foundation for future, more in-depth projects aimed at dismantling organized criminal networks and improving community safety.
“
Sgt. Powrie said the results of the initiative have had a noticeable impact on the community and laid a foundation for future, more expansive enforcement efforts aimed at dismantling organized crime.
