On Nov. 29, 2024, at 9:39 am, the Delta Police Department (DPD) responded to a report of a car having been driven intentionally into the Fraser River, at the 8200 block or River Rd, Delta. The vehicle was off road, and stuck in the foreshore of the river and not in the water.
Prior to police arrival, Delta Fire Department firefighters and good Samaritans came to the aid of the female driver and two young children. The children have been transported to hospital for observation, with no apparent injuries noted. The driver has been transported to hospital and is receiving medical care. The DPD is investigating this incident as a criminal matter.
The area was busy with commuters at the time of the incident. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision and not yet spoken with an investigator, to police contact the Delta Police at (604)946-4411.
