A proactive traffic stop by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team on March 24 led to a major drug seizure and two arrests. Officers stopped a vehicle in Surrey as part of their ongoing work targeting gang‑linked drug distribution. During the investigation, they located 3.5 kilograms of illicit drugs packaged in bulk and sealed in vacuum bags.
Police later confirmed the seizure included 1.293 kilograms of fentanyl in purple, yellow, and red forms, along with 1.064 kilograms of cocaine and 1.149 kilograms of methamphetamine. Officers arrested two individuals at the scene. One was found to be violating the conditions of his study permit and was transferred to a Canada Border Services Agency immigration holding centre, where he remains in custody. The second individual received violation tickets for speeding and was issued a seven‑month driving prohibition.
Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha said the seizure represents a significant financial setback for organized crime and noted that intercepting bulk quantities at the distribution level disrupts supply chains and cuts into the profits that fuel gang activity. The investigation remains active, and charges are expected to be recommended as CFSEU‑BC continues its efforts to target organized crime and reduce the circulation of dangerous drugs in British Columbia.
