ROSE VALLEY, Sask. — On Aug. 31, 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Rose Valley RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Yellow Quill First Nation as part of an ongoing investigation.
During a search of the property, officers located and seized seven firearms – including one semi-automatic model, two air rifles and ammunition.
Rose Valley RCMP arrested two adult males at the property.
As a result of investigation, 23-year-old Kynan Desjarlais from Yellow Quill First Nation has been charged with:
- four counts, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without license/registration, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
- seven counts, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
- six counts, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle, Section 94(1), Criminal Code; and
- ten counts, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, Section 117.01(1).
Desjarlais was also arrested on a warrant from Rose Valley RCMP for charges including assault with a weapon, discharge a firearm with intent, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, and robbery with firearm. These charges were laid in relation to a June 2026 investigation into an incident on Yellow Quill First Nation.
Desjarlais appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on September 1, 2026 (Information #90557868, 90557869).
The second adult male was released without charge.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatoon Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) also assisted in this investigation.
Rose Valley RCMP continue to investigate.
