In two ceremonies, the first on Oct. 8 in Didsbury, and the second on Oct. 22 in Devon, the Alberta RCMP awarded Long Service Awards, Commanding Officer Commendations, Commanding Officer Letters of Appreciation, Special Service Medals and more.
The variety of honours were given to employees and civilians who, in service to Albertans and Canadians alike, exemplify the RCMP’s core values—integrity, professionalism, respect and compassion.

53 police officers, six Civilian Member Employees, 11 Public Service Employees and two citizens were awarded. Some of the awards included:
RCMP Long Service Awards: Awarded to employees who exemplify honourable service and good conduct of greater than 20 years of service, 25 years of service, 30 years of service and 35 years of service.
Commanding Officer Commendation: A recognition awarded by the Commanding Officer to employees with exemplary achievements, including outstanding service and acts of bravery, exceeding the scope of their normal duties.
Commanding Officer’s Letter or Certificate of Appreciation: A form of recognition given by the Commanding Officer to acknowledge an outstanding achievement or contribution made by a civilian or a member of the organization.
Special Services Medal: Awarded to employees for service under exceptional circumstances in their expedition to Ukraine.
British Columbia Police Honours Valour Award: The highest recognition for a police officer in British Columbia given for acts of exceptional valour in the face of extreme hazard.
Jean Bonneau Fitness Award: Awarded to employees with outstanding contributions to the Alberta RCMP’s Fitness and Health Promotion program.
Chaplain of the Year Award: Awarded to one chaplain of the Alberta RCMP who has surpassed typical duties in supporting employees, exemplifying the RCMP’s core values.
