A Moose Jaw RCMP officer is facing charges following an investigation into an altercation that occurred while on duty.
On January 13, 2025, Moose Jaw RCMP attended a residence in the Moose Jaw detachment area as part of an ongoing investigation.
On January 14, 2025, the adult male involved in the altercation reported a complaint with Moose Jaw RCMP. He did not report any physical injuries to police.
As required by The Police Act, 1990, Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) of the altercation. SIRT determined the incident to be out of the scope of their mandate.
Saskatchewan RCMP initiated an investigation into the complaint.
The results of the investigation were sent to Crown for their assessment on February 13, 2025.
On October 20, 2025, Crown recommended criminal charges against the officer.
As a result, Cst. Steven Sharpen is charged with one count of break and enter and committing assault, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code.
He was arrested by Saskatchewan RCMP on October 29, 2025. Cst. Steven Sharpen is scheduled to appear in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on December 3, 2025.
