Police ask public to comply with publication ban, including not posting on social media
The 20-year-old man charged with sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm, which occurred in Whitehorse on Nov. 8, 2025, appeared in court November 10, 2025, and remains in custody. A court-ordered publication ban is in effect.
The court-ordered publication ban has been granted pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada protecting the identity of the victim and protecting the details of the investigation, which includes the identity of the accused.
The Yukon RCMP say they recognize withholding the name of the accused under a publication ban is not a usual practice. However, this investigation remains in the early stages, with an arrest occurring shortly after the event. The investigation is unfolding, and several witnesses still need to be interviewed. To ensure the integrity of the investigation, police are asking that the public comply with the publication ban, which includes posting on social media. An updated release will be provided when available.
Yukon RCMP thank the public for information and tips that have been provided so far and would like to thank the public for their cooperation while they continue to investigate this matter.
