LLOYDMINSTER, Alta. — Lloydminster RCMP say a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month has been arrested.
Randy Lysohirka was located and arrested without incident, thanks to the numerous tips that came in from the public. He is being held and will appear before a justice of the peace, with a future court date to be determined.
“We want to once again thank the public for their assistance throughout this investigation” said Sgt. Thomas Weiers of the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. “It is thanks to witnesses at the scene as well as tips from the public that we were able to identify, locate and arrest the suspect.”
The arrest stems from an incident on Sept. 21, 2026, when Lloydminster RCMP were dispatched around 11:09 a.m. to a shooting that took place on 50 Avenue. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Lloydminster resident Nolan Whitstone, was declared deceased on scene.
Further investigation and analysis of footage revealed a suspect. As a result, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit laid a charge of second degree murder against 40-year-old Lloydminster resident Randy Lysohirka and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
