STANLEY MISSION, Sask. — Cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized by Stanley Mission RCMP during a traffic stop, leading to charges against a Sucker River woman.
On Sept. 26, at approximately 2:05 a.m., Stanley Mission RCMP were conducting proactive patrols in Stanley Mission when they conducted a traffic stop. Officers observed drug trafficking paraphernalia and open alcohol in plain view. The vehicle’s three occupants were arrested. During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized over one kilogram of suspected cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Suzie McKenzie from Sucker River has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
The other two occupants of the vehicle, 33-year-old Erica McKenzie from Sucker River and 29-year-old Jason Roberts from Stanley Mission, were arrested on warrants from Waskesiu RCMP and Stanley Mission RCMP respectively. Erica McKenzie was wanted for a flight from police charge, while Jason Roberts was wanted for a break and enter charge.
“Proactive patrols are an important part of how we keep our communities safe. In this case, what began as a traffic stop resulted in officers intercepting a significant quantity of dangerous illicit drugs before they could circulate in the community,” said S/Sgt. Derek Eberle with La Ronge RCMP. “This is a clear example of how proactive policing can have a direct impact on community safety.”
Suzie McKenzie appeared in court in La Ronge on Sept. 28.
