Lethbridge man faces a rocky road after alleged $3K dairy crime spree ends with arrest, and then a second one for breaking his ‘cone-dition’
An 18-year-old Lethbridge man is facing a slew of theft charges after police allege he stole thousands of dollars worth of milk and ice cream from a downtown drug store over a three-week period.
According to the Lethbridge Police Service, between August 8 and August 30, a male suspect entered the Shoppers Drug Mart on the 500 block of 1 Avenue South on multiple occasions. The target of the thefts was consistently high-value dairy products, with the total estimated loss placed between $2,000 and $3,000.
Investigators obtained video surveillance footage of the suspect, which was then circulated to patrol units.
The break in the case came on August 30, when officers with the Downtown Policing Unit were on a routine patrol. They observed a male who matched the description from the surveillance images and subsequently placed him under arrest without incident.
James St. Pierre Eagle Tail Feathers, of Lethbridge, has been charged with 10 counts of theft under $5,000 in connection to the alleged dairy thefts.
Following his initial arrest, Eagle Tail Feathers was released from custody by a justice of the peace. His release conditions explicitly prohibited him from attending the Park Place Mall or any Shoppers Drug Mart location in the city.
However, on September 10, police say Eagle Tail Feathers was found to be in breach of those conditions. He was arrested again and has been remanded into custody.
Eagle Tail Feathers is scheduled to make a court appearance today.
