Police obtain judicial authorization to release youth’s name and photo
The Toronto Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance in locating a 14-year-old suspect wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 71-year-old woman in North York earlier this week.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at approximately 9:37 a.m., in the Parkway Forest Drive and Sheppard Avenue East area. Police responded to reports of a stabbing and found an elderly woman suffering from critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim—identified as Shahnaz Pestonji of Toronto—was pronounced dead in hospital.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Kymani Wint, 14, of Toronto, who is wanted for Second Degree Murder. Under a temporary judicial authorization, police are permitted to release his name and image, though the order expires on Wednesday, July 23, at 4:00 p.m.
The victim has been identified as Shahnaz Pestonji, 71, of Toronto.
