he Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit has made an arrest in the murder of 44-year-old Kerry Eastman, a resident of Winnipeg and member of Sandy Bay First Nation.
On May 5, 2025, investigators—with assistance from the Tactical Support Team (TST)—located and arrested a suspect in the area of McGregor Street and Bannerman Avenue. The arrest was made without incident.
Wyatt Darius Prince, 24, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He remains in custody.

The incident occurred in the early hours of May 4, 2025, when police were called to the 500 block of Waterfront Drive at 1:48 a.m. for a reported stabbing.
Upon arrival, Central District officers found an adult male victim with injuries consistent with an assault. Officers provided emergency medical care, including applying chest seals, until Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.
The Homicide Unit took over the investigation and identified the victim as Kerry Eastman.
