On Feb. 12 , the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit updated the charges against 44-year-old Marc LEBRUN-FORTIN, of Ottawa. LEBRUN-FORTIN assaulted a man in an incident at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre on Feb. 6, the victim succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 9.
The victim has been identified as Amr Zohair, 40 years old of Ottawa.
LEBRUN-FORTIN was originally charged with aggravated assault and he now stands charged with first degree murder.
He appeared in court today and was remanded into custody.
