Members of the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are investigating the fatal shooting of a man outside a residence in the City of Markham.
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of several shots fired outside a residence in the area of Cottsmore Crescent and Harvest Moon Drive. Responding officers found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim Chenguang LI, a 50-year-old man from Markham, was transported to a trauma centre where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.
A black Acura, 4-door, sedan, with tinted windows, was seen leaving the area.
Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are urged to come forward, along with anyone who has video footage, including dashcam, cell phone, or security recordings from the area around the time of the incident.
