Akshata Ahmetaj, 79, of Toronto, has been charged with six counts of sexual assault. He was arrested on Jan. 11.
Toronto Police say he is the suspect in three sexual assaults at malls.
On Jan. 9, 2024, at about 7:40 p.m. police say Ahmetaj approached three separate victims and asked to use a translator application to speak with him. He then stood close to them extending his hand to shake theirs, pulled her in and sexually assaulted her.
On Nov. 5, 2023, at about 5:53 p.m., Ahmetaj approached a woman at the Queensway and Islington Avenue area and asked to use a translator app to speak with him. He extended his hand for a shake and pulled her into him and sexually assaulted her.
On Oct. 24, 2023, at about 11:55 a.m. Ahmetaj approached a womanin the Queensway and West Mall and asked a woman to use a translator app to talk to him. He stood close to her, extended his hand for a shake and pulled her in and sexually assaulted her.
Ahmetaj appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Jan. 12.
