Prince George RCMP impounded a semi after the semi-truck driver was found to be impaired by alcohol more than double over the legal limit. They also issued him a 90-day driving prohibition.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024, police had responded to a report of a semi-trailer truck that was stuck on the railway tracks near the 1900-block of River Road. When they arrived, they noted several signs of possible alcohol-impairment on the driver.
Police made a roadside demand for a breath sample, which resulted in a fail reading on the approved screening device, or ASD. The driver was arrested and taken to the Prince George RCMP detachment for a full impaired driving investigation.
The driver provided two breath samples that registered as nearly double the legal limit. The driver was then released from police custody with a future court date, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
This investigation is ongoing.
