Two people have been arrested in an organized retail theft ring where items were being re-sold at a Toronto Convenience store.
York Regional Police started their investigation on Dec. 16 into commercial thefts from a drug stores in Vaughn and Richmond Hill.
Stolen products included high-end cosmetics, hygiene items and over-the-counter medications, such as vitamins and pain-relievers. Police identified suspects and learned the items were being re-sold from a commercial business in Toronto.
On Dec. 20, a search warrant was executed at two locations in Toronto and more than $40,000 worth of property was recovered. Police discovered that the accused were also re-selling bottles of alcohol from their business.
Thi Hong Hanh Luu, 52, and Tan Dung Nguyen, 68, both of Toronto, are charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, trafficking in possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and selling liquor for sale.
The investigation is ongoing.
