An off-duty Toronto police officer was stabbed after he tried stopping suspected thieves. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Toronto Police Service say that on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 11:47 a.m. police responded to a call for an assault in the McCowan Road and Progress Avenue area. It was reported that three men and a woman entered into a store they selected an item and attempted to leave the store without paying. An off-duty Toronto Police officer was stabbed when trying to stop them.

The three men and woman loaded the item into a blue Toyota Sienna minivan and then the four suspects got into the vehicle and fled northbound on Brimley Road and then westbound on the 401.
