An 18-year-old Grande Prairie resident has been arrested after police got a call about a male with a handgun at the Composite High School.
Eli Poteet is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and uttering threats.
Poteet was released from custody after a release hearing and appears in Grande Prairie Alberta Court of Justice on March 19.
RCMP say that at about 12:10 p.m. they had received a complaint about a male with a handgun at the high school. The Grande Prairie RCMP with assistance of the Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services responded and were able to locate the male involved.
Police were also able to determine that the handgun was actually an imitation firearm or BB gun
