The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation of a suspicious death in Pemberton.
On Feb. 22, 2025, at approximately 10 a.m., Pemberton RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in the 7400 block of Prospect Street. First responders, including British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) attended the location but the woman was declared deceased on scene.
In consultation with the BC Coroners Service, the woman’s death was deemed suspicious.
IHIT continues to work closely in partnership with the Pemberton RCMP, the Squamish RCMP, the Whistler RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service.
In order to advance the investigation, IHIT is identifying the deceased woman as twenty-two-year-old Tabitha Peters of Pemberton. Initial evidence suggests this was an isolated incident with no ongoing risk to the public.
“We are in the beginning stages of our investigation,
” says Cpl. Esther Tupper of IHIT. “We’re asking anyone with information to please come forward.
“
IHIT is asking anyone with information regarding the investigation, to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
