In October, police said that two men and one female wereharged in-connection to a Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC), Island District-led investigation into the suspicious death of 52-year-old Wendy Head, who died in a Nanaimo home on March 7, 2023.
In August 2023, CFSEU-BC’s Island District Team began an investigation, working collaboratively with Nanaimo and North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, after Information was obtained that led investigators to believe that the overdose death of a female from Nanaimo was suspicious.
The investigation advanced using various police techniques and resources to identify three individuals and to obtain evidence that led to criminal charges being laid.
On October 17, 2024, The British Columbia Prosecution Service (BCPS) approved charges against three individuals;
• Kehar Gary Sangha, a 59-year-old male from Duncan;
• One count first degree murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
• One count counselling to commit murder, contrary to section 464(a) CCC;
• Tyler Stephen Elrix, a 41-year-old male from Duncan;
• One count of first degree murder, contrary to section 235(1) CCC.
• Lily Irene Lindbergh, a 44-year-old female from Duncan;
• One count of first degree murder, contrary to section 235(1) CCC;
• One count counselling to commit murder, contrary to section 464(a) CCC.
Garry Sangha and Lily Lindbergh have been arrested and will remain in custody to appear before the court at a later date.
CFSEU-BC was seeking the assistance of the public in locating Tyler Elrix who has an outstanding arrest warrant in relation to these charges. He has since been arrested in November 2024.
