The Toronto Police Service made another arrest made in the homicide investigation of Sulakshan Selvasingam, 28.
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, a male youth*, 15, of Toronto, was charged with First Degree Murder.
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice, 10 Armoury Street, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 10 a.m., in room 606.
Background: On Saturday, July 6, 2024, police responded to a call in the Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road area.
It is reported that:
- a 28-year-old male was located with gunshot wounds
- he was pronounced deceased in hospital
On Monday, July 15, 2024, with the assistance of the OPP, police arrested two youths, aged 15 and 16, and they were charged with First Degree Murder. It is alleged that during the arrest they were found to be in possession of a Glock handgun.
The victim is identified as 28-year-old Sulakshan Selvasingam, of Pickering.
It is further alleged that:
- these two youths were responsible for 11 additional shooting incidents that occurred between June 29 and July 14, 2024, with eight of these shootings taking place over the Canada Day long weekend
- three different stolen vehicles were used by the youths during this period
As a result, they are facing an additional 154 charges in relation to these 11 shooting incidents.

- First Degree Murder
- eleven counts of Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
- twelve counts of Possess Firearm Without Holding a Licence
- twelve counts of Occupy Motor Vehicle With Firearm
- twelve counts of Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- ten counts of Discharge Firearm into a Place/Reckless to Others
- Discharge Firearm Reckless as to the Life or Safety of Another Person
- twelve counts of Possess Property or Thing Obtained by Crime/Exceeding $5000
- twelve counts of Possess Firearm, etc. While Prohibited
- Possession of Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority
A male youth*, 16, of Stouffville, is charged with:
- First Degree Murder
- eleven counts of Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence
- twelve counts of Possess Firearm Without Holding a Licence
- twelve counts of Occupy Motor Vehicle With Firearm
- twelve counts of Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- ten counts of Discharge Firearm into a Place/Reckless to Others
- Discharge Firearm Reckless as to the Life or Safety of Another Person
- twelve counts of Possess Property or Thing Obtained by Crime/Exceeding $5000
- Fail to Stop for Police/Pursuit
- twelve counts of Possess Firearm, etc. While Prohibited
- Dangerous Operation
- Possession of Prohibited Device Knowing No Authority
