Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau- Vice Unit have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man on from Whitby in relation to human trafficking and prostitution-related offences.
On June 3, Neilton Biggart was charged with human trafficking, exercise control, receiving benefit resulting from trafficking in persons, procuring, derive material benefit from sexual services, and adverstisement of human trafficking. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice.
In March 2024, officers began an investigation relating to victims involved in the sex trade within the Region of Peel.
It is alleged that the accused recruited and exploited victims into the sex trade and took their earnings. Vice investigators conducted an investigation which resulted in locating a victim being trafficked by the Accused.
