On May 25, Slave Lake RCMP were conducting proactive patrols when they came across a known offender, who was suspected of being in possession of stolen property the month before. The officer spoke with the suspect and conducted an arrest. Search incidental to arrest revealed a hand gun, a rifle, ammunition and 60g of suspected meth.
As a result of the investigation, Raymond James Foss, 35, of Smith, Alta., was charged with possession of stolen property valued over $5,000, four counts of firearms-related offences, possession of a controlled substance.
Foss was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He appeared at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on June 5.
On June 6, Slave Lake RCMP received a complaint regarding a suspicious vehicle near an Oil Well site. Officers responded and identified Foss in a stolen vehicle. Foss was arrested and search incidental to arrest revealed a small amount of meth as well as break and enter tools.
As a result of the arrest, Foss was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime valued over $5,000, and possession of a controlled substance.
Foss was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on June 12.
