RCMP arrest man.
On June 9, at approximately 12:05 pm, Drumheller RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle; it was reported the vehicle was damaged, had a flat tire and contained two people on or near a private property.
Drumheller RCMP responded to the call and while enroute encountered the westbound suspect vehicle on South Railway Avenue near Highway 9 intersection in Drumheller. As police turned around to initiative a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and in a dangerous manner including driving through red lights and between moving vehicles. A pursuit was not initiated for public safety reasons.
RCMP members initiated an investigation and patrols to locate the suspect vehicle and occupant(s). At approximately 1:15 pm, the suspect vehicle was located abandoned near the Drumheller Swimming Pool facility. The driver was located and taken into custody moments later inside the facility.
The suspect was found to be in possession of small amounts of cannabis and crack cocaine, a knife, drug paraphernalia and miscellaneous other items.
The investigation also found that the suspect was on a Canada Wide Driving Prohibition, was bound by a Release Order with multiple conditions, and was wanted on a provincial traffic warrant.
Bradley Lebsack, 53, of no fixed address was charged with 16 offences including seven counts of failing to comply with a release order, driving while prohibited, failing to stop for a peace officer while being pursued, careless driving, stunting, driving while unauthorized, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, unlawful use of a license plate on a vehicle, and failing to stop for a peace officer.
Lebsack was subject to a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice on June 14 in Drumheller for a bail hearing.
