Winnipeg Police shoot, kill man in confrontation

Winnipeg Police shot and killed a man after responding to a 911 call of at about 2:22 p.m. on Dec. 31 of an armed male acting erratically in a suite with several people.

The armed man confronted police when they arrived and they exchanged gunfire with him, say Winnipeg Police.

Officers provided immediate medical care and ensured the wellbeing of all other parties on scene. Nobody else was injured.

The male was taken to hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries. 

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.
