The majority of RCMP detachments are in Western Canada with Eastern Canada leaning towards their own municipal forces.
For the western provinces, there are 152 detachments in B. C., 118 detachments in Alberta, 113 in Saskatchewan, and 86 in Manitoba.
In comparison, eastern provinces have few detachments with only nine in Quebec, 13 in Ontario, seven in Prince Edward Island, 39 in New Brunswick, and 55 in Nova Scotia.
There are 43 in Newfoundland and Labrador, 22 in the Northwest Territories, 26 in Nunavut, and 14 in the Yukon.
