RED DEER, Alta., As the RCMP prepares to launch their Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, Red Deer RCMP drone pilots have been building their skills from the ground up this past week.
Between May 19-21, Red Deer RCMP DFR pilots were trained on the new drones and the associated software programs. Pilots were trained on the regulations that govern the use of drones for emergency response as well as ensuring all drone operations respect the privacy of the citizens of Red Deer.
A total of 14 drone pilots in Red Deer participated in the training and received certificates for completing the course.
The RCMP DFR program will be carried out as outlined by Transport Canada regulations. Public safety and the right to privacy remain the top priority for the Red Deer City DFR.
