RED DEER, Alta. — A drug trafficking investigation in Red Deer has resulted in the seizure of over 1.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and other drugs, along with $15,000 in cash.
Police arrested two men after a traffic stop on July 2, which led to a search warrant at a home in the Lancaster neighbourhood the following day.
The Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team, with help from the general investigative section, seized approximately 1127 grams of suspected fentanyl, 334 grams of suspected cocaine, 24.1 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, about one litre of suspected gamma hydroxybutyrate, and drug trafficking materials like scales and packaging.
The charges
Japinderjeet Singh, 22, of Calgary, faces four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
He was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing but has since been released with conditions. He’s scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on Aug. 6.
Ravinder Singh Gosal, 23, of Surrey, B.C., faces the same drug and property charges, plus one count of failing to attend court.
He was also remanded into custody and released with conditions, but he failed to show up for his July 23 court date. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
