Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage after a female youth was seriously assaulted in a field in the Lancaster Meadows area on Monday afternoon.
Red Deer RCMP say they received multiple 911 calls at approximately 2:21 p.m. on May 11, requesting assistance for an assault in progress.
Officers learned that the victim, a teenage girl, had been assaulted in a field and was later brought to the Collicut Centre by members of the public to receive help.
The youth sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment, police said.
The incident is currently under investigation by Red Deer RCMP General Duty (GD) with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS).
Police are asking any witnesses or those who may have video footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.
