On April 21, at approximately 11 :40 p.m., Swan River RCMP’s general investigation section (GIS) initiated a traffic stop after witnessing the driver of a truck failing to make a complete stop multiple times.
The stop occurred on First Street North in Swan River. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed numerous prescription pill bottles all over the inside of the vehicle in plain view.
The driver was arrested and taken into custody. Officers then searched the truck and found more than 10 pill bottles, cash, knives, and multiple phones. The suspect was also searched, with more cash and another phone found.
A 64-year-old Swan River male faces charges of drug trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was released on an undertaking.
