Two men are facing multiple criminal charges after an investigation by the Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team led to the seizure of drugs and stolen property last week.
On December 9, officers attempted to stop a vehicle in relation to an ongoing investigation near 6th Street in Meadow Lake. The vehicle did not stop and drove away, but soon after became stuck in a ditch. The two occupants were then arrested.
Officers located and seized approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of cocaine, two handgun-style airguns, drug trafficking paraphernalia and several recently reported stolen tools.
As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Billy Joe Villeneuve from Flying Dust First Nation is charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.
Thirty-five-year-old Darren Durocher from Meadow Lake is charged with flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and multiple counts of failing to comply with a release order and possession of a firearm contrary to an order.
Durocher was also charged with an additional count each of flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime, as well as two other counts of failing to comply with a release order condition in relation to incidents investigated by Meadow Lake RCMP in the past month.
Both Billy Joe Villeneuve and Darren Durocher appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on December 11.
