Charges have been announced in connection with the August 2024 homicide of Dillan Unger in Langley, B.C.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), alongside Langley RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS), pursued the investigation, leading to charges against a suspect.
On July 31, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges against Stephen Johnson, including:
- Second-degree murder in the death of Dillan Unger,
- Four counts of attempted murder,
- One count of aggravated assault,
- One count of using a firearm in the commission of an offence,
- One count of reckless discharge of a firearm.
Investigators confirmed that Unger and Johnson were known to each other. Johnson remains in custody.
“Over the past year, investigators have remained committed to advancing this case and securing charges,” said Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT, acknowledging the support of Langley RCMP and IFIS.
On August 2, 2024, at approximately 12:46 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to reports of gunfire in the 7000-block of 202B Street. Two injured men were later located at a local hospital. One victim, identified as 41-year-old Dillan Unger of Langley, died from his injuries. The second victim was treated and released.
As the case is now before the courts, no further details will be released.
